Unveiling the Mystery: The Silent Impact of Crohn's Disease

Not many people know this about me, but I have been fighting what doctors call a silent disease because some people have symptoms and others don't. It is called Crohn's disease, when I explain to people what it is , their favorite response is "oh so you just use the bathroom a lot" which I was maybe like 5-6 times a day lol. But that's not what crohn's it is "A chronic inflammatory bowel disease that affects the lining of the digestive tract." Some people compare it to IBS but one is a syndrome and one is a disease which is uncurbable. I had got to the point where I was having to pull over to use the bathroom anywhere: Walgreens, gas stations, TJMaxx. I could not hold it even if our location was the next block over. That's when I knew that it was time for me to go see a Doctor about what was happening to me. There were other symptoms that came with it such as really bad stomach cramps that would wake me up in the middle of the night. So at 24 I was preparing for my first colonoscopy, I was 24 getting a colonoscopy ya'll I thought only 40 and up got those. I was the youngest person in the office getting one. Then I had the nerve to cry when they called my name to take me back lol one thing about me I hate being put to sleep that is my BIGGEST fear. So when it was time I brought my mom back there to calm me down. They hooked me up and put me to sleep and performed the procedure, when I woke up and got dressed they called me and my mom in the room to give me the results. He looked at my mom and told her "She has some inflammation in her small and large intestine which are signs of "Crohns Disease", at this point I was out of it and loopy so I didn't understand but the expression on my moms face worried me. We went to the follow up appointment for him to tell us what the test results showed and it confirmed what he told us but by that time I was looking up treatment options and if it could be cured. I got both of my answers that day. The doctor told me "unfortunately this is not curable, but you can go into remission", Remission??, he went on the list treatment options " you can do shots yourself or you can do an IV infusion"....

My face was already frowned when he mentioned a shots , Me.. give myself a shot, oh baby no I told him I don't like shots, so no sir that is out of the picture. I told him I wanted to do IV infusion since that is what I had already searched I am willing to do that instead of a shot... come back for Part 2.
